POSITION:    Registered Nurse
                            Regular Part-time

POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the daily provision of nursing care to residents including the assessment of individual requirements, implementation of appropriate treatment, dispensing pharmaceuticals, and accurate charting and recording.

When required to function in the role as the Registered Charge Nurse the incumbent will be designated to be in “charge” for the entire facility and will be responsible for the professional nursing care given to residents as well as the care provided by PSW’s, Health Care Aides, and Nurses Aides in all Resident Home Areas. In the absence of the Leadership team, he/she will respond to concerns and problems identified on the shift in these respective departments, to the extent that resident care and services are not compromised. The Registered Charge Nurse will assume responsibility for the entire facility, having access to management staff on call.

REPORTS TO:          Director of Care

DATE REQUIRED:   As Soon As Possible

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse Diploma.
- Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Education related to dementia care is a definite asset.

- Two (2) Years clinical experience in long term care or equivalent preferred

- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt to changing and emerging care practices is also required.
